Funded by the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the ZIREF project is being implemented by ADRA Mozambique in partnership with ADRA Canada, with a view to reducing malnutrition and improving food security for more than 1,250 small-scale farmers in the districts of Mocuba and Maganja da Costa, in Zamb\u00e9zia province. The project has been underway since September 15, 2021 and will cover more than 625 small farmers in Mocuba and 625 small farmers in Maganja da Costa District. Of the beneficiaries targeted, 750 (60%) are women and 500 (40%) are men, among whom 20% are young people aged 18-35; and 10% are people with disabilities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The project aims to ensure equitable and sustainable food and income security for vulnerable smallholder farmers, with a focus on those most affected by COVID-19 and natural disasters, through greater gender equity and inclusive agricultural livelihoods in the districts mentioned. In addition, the ZIREF project is strengthening the capacity of smallholder farmers to adapt, absorb and transform climate risks and natural disasters into food security, by increasing smart and resilient agriculture. the project has been carrying out various activities, including: a) Establishing and strengthening farmer groups; b) Establishing a network of community extension service providers (through facilitators from the School in Machamba do Campon\u00eas); c) Transferring inputs to vulnerable farmers and beyond. Likewise, 50 farmers' groups have been trained, 25 savings groups have been set up and 17 community-based committees for natural disaster management have been established in Mocuba and Maganja da Costa.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
