The event took place last Wednesday, August 9, in the district of Ile, at a ceremony presided over by the Ile District Administrator, Hon\u00f3rio Vaz. The event was attended by members of Zambezia's provincial and district government, in particular Val\u00e9rio Chaessimbe, Arcangelo Amussala and Ramos Muduma from the provincial directorates of Health, Agriculture and Gender, Ciran\u00e7a and Women respectively.

On the occasion, the Administrator of the Ile District, Hon\u00f3rio Vaz, highlighted the ownership of the project by the beneficiaries in that district, as well as the government's efforts to support the screening and treatment of patients with neglected tropical diseases, as well as the inclusion of women and people with disabilities in the different public decision-making spaces\n\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

in achieving the goals of the Advancing Inclusion and Resilience-AVIR project and pointed out that building resilience for women and people affected by neglected tropical diseases is one of the top priorities of this program, hence the need to redouble efforts to achieve these priorities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In an interview, Augusto Igrejas, the director of Ile's district service for economic activities (SDAE), described the project in the following terms: \"We welcome the project with open arms and with great satisfaction because it's a project that includes groups that are often ignored in the development process. Therefore, the beneficiaries are the most disadvantaged people, and for us, it's a form of inclusion so that all sections of society don't feel neglected or isolated.\"<\/b><\/i>

The AVIR project, which has just started in the districts of Ile, Mocuba and Lugela, aims to influence the provision of local public services and to ensure that women, young people and people with disabilities are actively involved in socio-economic processes with a view to their development.

In the three targeted districts, the program has so far registered around 4,039 beneficiaries, and more than 150 peasant field school groups (EMCs) have been established, including 15 inclusive self-care groups, 39 youth clubs, 89 rotating savings and credit groups (PCR) and more.

During the three years of implementation, the project plans to assist nearly 7,025 households, by strengthening social structures for participation in inclusive governance, promoting gender equity, providing inclusive health services for people with disabilities, including people affected by leprosy, konzo, lymphatic filariasis and other disabling pathologies.
